At 6 pm on 30th August 2018 iconic Busboys and Poets at 5th&K, Washington DC hosted a poetry reading and discussion with an incredible group of poet-diplomats-- Abhay K., Indran Amirthanayagam, Simon Schuchat (& Venus Thrash, co-editor of Beltway Poetry Quarterly) who have lived throughout the world and written about joys and sufferings, dreams and disappointments, cultural diversity, unique customs and ways of life across continents, from rapturous white nights of St. Petersburg to snows of Mt. Everest, from the seven cities of Delhi to spaceships in Brasilia, these bards have unforgettable stories to share. They belong to the tribe and lineage of poet-diplomats which includes Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, George Seferis, St. John Perse, Rosario Castellanos, Gabriela Mistral, Cesla Milosz who celebrated the beauty and suffering of the world in their poems and gave us great literature. Indian University awards PhD on Abhay K's poetry

The PhD thesis by Amit Dhawan focuses on early works of the poet, mainly on the first five poetry collections viz. Enigmatic Love: Love Poems from the fairy-tale city of Moscow (2009), Fallen Leaves of Autumn (2010), Candling the Light (2011), Remains (2012) and The Seduction of Delhi (2014) and examines aspects of human and divine love, loss, poet's relationship with the city and cross-cultural undercurrents in his poems.
